Royal Family Releases New Portrait for Queen Elizabeth’s 96th Birthday

Celebrations are in order for Queen Elizabeth, who is turning 96 years old.

In honor of the monarch’s birthday, the royal family (on behalf of the Royal Windsor Horse Show) shared a never-before-seen portrait on Instagram. The pic features Her Majesty holding the reigns as she stands between two of her horses.

“Ahead of The Queen’s 96th Birthday tomorrow, @royalwindsorhorseshow have released a new photograph of Her Majesty with two of her fell ponies, Bybeck Katie and Bybeck Nightingale,” the caption read. “Taken last month in the grounds of Windsor Castle, the photo is the fourth in a series of photos released by the Royal Windsor Horse Show, following images that celebrated the Golden Jubilee, the Platinum Jubilee and Her Majesty’s 90th Birthday.”

It continued, “First staged in 1943, The Queen has attended every single Royal Windsor Horse Show.” The photo was taken by professional photographer Henry Dallal.

According to People magazine, the monarch will celebrate her birthday in private. Although she was residing at Windsor Castle, the queen recently traveled to her Sandringham Estate at Windsor Castle. The residence holds a special meaning in her heart, mainly because it was Prince Philip’s favorite place.

Sending huge birthday wishes to Queen Elizabeth.
