Exclusive: Zooey Deschanel Says She Misses Her ‘New Girl’ Co-stars

Turns out we aren’t the only ones who miss New Girl’s catchy theme song and quirky protagonists. Zooey Deschanel, who starred as the ever adorkable Jess on the series, says she misses the show and her co-stars, too.

The 39-year-old actress chatted with PureWow about all things motherhood, 500 Days of Summer and more in conjunction with her new Come as You Are campaign for Crocs. And, as fans of the series, which ran for seven seasons from 2011 to 2018, we just had to ask if she keeps in touch with her co-stars Max Greenfield (Schmidt), Jake Johnson (Nick), Lamorne Morris (Winston) and Hannah Simone (Cece).

Deschanel says that when it comes to keeping in touch with her former colleagues there’s no Big Little Lies–esque text chain, but they do keep one another up to speed when they can. “I’m not on any group texts, but I do text pretty much everybody probably every few months,” she explained.

She went on to explain that it’s been harder to meet face to face given that everyone has busy schedules: “I run into [them] here and there. We all live kind of far from each other. So, it’s not like we see each other all the time.”

Regardless of schedules and distance, Deschanel says she still feels connected with the cast. “That I really miss, getting to work with everyone,” she shared. After seven years, how could you not?

It sounds like a reunion is definitely in order.

Wait, What Does Zooey Deschanel Have to Do With ‘The Lion King’?
