The USA Network just made three major announcements about the future of Suits—one bad, two good—and we don’t know how to feel.
As for the bad news, Patrick J. Adams (Mike Ross) will depart the show along with princess-in-the-making Meghan Markle (Rachel Zane) at the end of its seventh season. The good news? USA just renewed the series for an eighth season and revealed that Suits superfan Katherine Heigl will join the cast as Samantha Wheeler, a new partner at Pearson Specter Litt, so we don’t have to say “ta-ta” to the beloved show…yet.
Back in November, Markle’s body double confirmed that the 36-year-old actress will leave Suits after the upcoming seventh season. While some feared that Adams would follow suit (sorry, had to), the actor recently assured fans that everything happens for a reason.
He said, “Just because something stops for me doesn’t mean that there isn’t more for the show itself to do. It’s just not right for me to be a part of it from here on out.”
The seventh season of Suits returns to USA on Wednesday, March 28, and we’re already suffering from Rachel and Mike withdrawal.
