The first-look images for HBO’s forthcoming series Sharp Objects have arrived. Entertainment Weekly shared two photos from the adaptation of author Gillian Flynn’s (Gone Girl, Dark Places) debut novel. The eight-episode series stars Amy Adams as Camille, a crime reporter who’s just been released from the psychiatric hospital she was admitted to after harming herself.
In one photo, Camille is seen exploring an abandoned building in her hometown of Wind Gap, Missouri, as she investigates the murders of two young girls. The second photo (click above to view) illustrates the strained relationship between Camille and her fading socialite mother, played by Patricia Clarkson. As Camille digs deeper into the murder case, she’s forced to return to her childhood domicile and navigate the cutting remarks of her mother and half-sister (Eliza Scanlen).
As if the plot and cast weren’t exciting enough, Sharp Objects is directed by Jean-Marc Vallée, whose name you might recognize from none other than Big Little Lies.
Now if only there were an Advent calendar that would help us count down to the series debut in summer 2018...
