Here's What You Need to Know About the Fatal G&G Game in the ‘Riverdale’ Flashback Episode
This week’s episode of Riverdale had everything: ’80s fashion, Griffins and Gargoyles and a jaw-dropping story about the not-so-innocent adults.
Last night, The CW aired the highly anticipated flashback episode, titled “The Midnight Club,” which featured the Riverdale teens playing high school versions of their parents. While we could easily go on and on about the spot-on transformations, there were a ton of key takeaways that should be noted. Let’s begin, shall we?
The episode kicks off with adult Alice (Mädchen Amick) sitting down with Betty (Lili Reinhart) to discuss a game of G&G gone awry.
In a flashback, Alice (played by Reinhart) is pregnant with Betty’s long-lost half-brother, Charles (aka Chic). After she, Penelope (Madelaine Petsch), FP (Cole Sprouse), Fred (KJ Apa), Sierra (Ashleigh Murray), Hermione (Camila Mendes), Tom (Casey Cott) and Hiram (Michael Consuelos) sneak into the high school to play, things take a horrifying turn when Principal Featherhead (Anthony Michael Hall) drinks from one of the poisonous goblets and turns up dead. (Blue lips and all.)
Afraid of getting in trouble, they swore to never tell a soul or play the game again. Foolproof, right? Wrong. The episode concludes in the present day with Betty walking in on Jughead, Cheryl, Toni and the other Serpents playing the infamous game.
Of course, we’re left with many questions. With so much focus on Alice’s pregnancy, can we trust that Chic is really dead? Will history repeat itself for the Riverdale teens? And last but definitely not least, how is G&G still a thing?
Guess we’ll have to wait until Riverdale returns to The CW next Wednesday.
