‘Forbes’ Labels Rihanna the World’s Richest Female Musician (& It’s All Because of Fenty Beauty)

It’s official: Rihanna is the world’s richest female musician.

The 31-year-old singer earned the top spot on Forbes’s annual list, with a net worth of $600 million. (NBD.) While she’s widely known for her music, her successful makeup brand, Fenty Beauty, accounted for the majority of her income, and we can’t say we’re surprised.

According to Forbes, Fenty Beauty earned more than $100 million during its first few weeks of production. Although the brand raked in a whopping $570 million in 2018, the company is collectively worth more than $3 billion. *Brush drop*

Rihanna beat out the runner-up, Madonna ($570 million), by a cool $30 million. Céline Dion ($450 million) came in at number three, followed by a tie between Beyoncé and Barbra Streisand ($400 million). Taylor Swift ($360 million) rounded out the top six.

In September 2017, Rihanna launched Fenty Beauty, which she co-owns with LVMH, a French luxury goods company. The brand immediately gained recognition for differentiating itself from other makeup companies—like having 40 shades of foundation, which, at the time, was far more than was typically offered.

“It challenged the standard convention that you only needed a very defined set of shades to satisfy a market,” said Stephanie Wissink, a research analyst at Jefferies. “Not only did [Fenty Beauty] achieve meaningful sales, but it potentially changed the industry permanently.”

All hail Queen RiRi.
