Rihanna is the latest celebrity to enter the cosmetics business, and she’s doing it for one hell of a good reason: inclusivity.
In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Rihanna discussed the reasoning behind her new venture, Fenty Beauty: “I don't think that's fair to limit it to one shade or one group shade. I think, you know, I have friends of all races, all skin tones, and I think it's painful to exclude anyone. Women love makeup and they should all be included.” *Slow clap*
Bad gal Ri Ri's delightful new makeup line features everything from primers and highlighters to lip colors and brushes. Oh, and did we mention there are 40 shades of foundation? Yep, you read that right. The “Work” singer’s goal was to create a cosmetics line for woman of all skin tones, and she nailed it.
Sure, she’s dabbled in shoes (Fenty Puma = life) and clothing, but the singer's motivation lies in her belief that “all women deserve to feel beautiful and all women deserve to have a choice and an option when they go to the makeup counter.”
And if you're wondering how Ri Ri became so passionate about beauty, we are happy to report that she did, in fact, get it from her mama, Monica Braithwaite. “I always watched her doing her makeup in the mirror, and that's where my obsession began,” Rihanna added.
Bless you, Monica, for giving us Rihanna and, in turn, Fenty.
