Thanks to Princess Eugenie, *This* Is About to Be the Big Wedding Dress Trend of 2019
Somebody check on the queen, because Princess Eugenie just made jaws drop and knees weak (and set our bridal-trend-loving hearts aflutter) at her own royal wedding to Jack Brooksbank in a stunning backless wedding dress.
While Princess Eugenie did channel Meghan Markle's Givenchy boatneck silhouette from her own wedding day in May, the backless feature of the gown, which was designed by Peter Pilotto and Christopher De Vos, is going to be one of the biggest bridal trends of 2019 (we're calling it now).
But the reason behind the bold choice of a backless dress is actually a bit of a statement. The royal wanted to show off her back scars from scoliosis surgery she underwent as a child at the same hospital she's patron for, the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital.
In an interview with ITV, the 28-year-old royal said: “I think you can change the way beauty is, and you can show people your scars, and I think it’s really special to stand up for that."
Whatever the reason, we love the daring move, especially from a royal. Brava, Eug.
