Bridgerton star Nicola Coughlan is busier than her onscreen counterpart Lady Whistledown. But fortunately, she had time to sit down for an exclusive interview to discuss her new partnership with Trainline (Europe's top train-booking app), her latest roles (including on Only Murders in the Building in London) and the Brat sweatshirt she wears on travel days.
Here, everything Coughlan had to say.
"I've had a really amazing year. I've been very, very lucky. I'm still filming on Bridgerton in more of a cameo role this time, but it's just been a joy to come back and see everybody."
"I wrapped on Only Murders in the Building. Well, Only Murders in London is this series which was an unbelievable job. It was so much fun. And at the moment, I'm filming a new show for Netflix, which doesn't have a name yet, but it's based on Roald Dahl's short stories, with a pretty incredible cast. We've got Imelda Staunton, and Toby Jones, and Naomi Scott. That one I'm excited for. It's very twisted and dark and strange."
Her year has also included the aforementioned partnership with Trainline on its new campaign spotlighting European destinations known for iconic grain- and carb-based food and drink traditions.
She told me, "I really love to travel by train. It will always be my choice of transport if I can get it. I live in London, but I shot Doctor Who a couple of years ago in Cardiff, and I remember being offered a car that would bring me, which was very kind, but I was like, 'I would like to go by train.'"
Coughlan continued raving about her time on the rails, saying, "The experience of the first time taking the Channel Tunnel, going on train from London to Paris, is so thrilling. It's just so incredible."
The one item she loves to don on her travels? A highly specific sweatshirt.
"I'll always wear a huge hooded sweater. I put it on and snuggle in—comfort is the most important thing. I went to see Charli XCX in the Brat Tour, and I got this enormous Brat sweatshirt, so that's the one I'm wearing most."
