Full disclosure: Prince William didn’t request a Jägermeister shot and glass of Red Bull at some grimy bar in South London, then drop said shot in the glass and sink the whole thing in one gulp. But he was the victim of a prank on Sunday, and he did down a Jägerbomb. (And this is exactly the first time we’ve felt bad for the royal.)
While at the Submariners’ Remembrance ceremony, Prince William, 36, who is Commodore-in-Chief of the Submarine Service, joined others in honoring servicemen and women who lost their lives for their country. During the solemn proceedings, the group toasted to “absent friends” with flasks of rum, according to People.
But as William raised his flask to his lips, he realized some cheeky service attendant had replaced the rum with a Jägerbomb…and he drank it anyway.
“I was expecting rum and got a Jägerbomb!” he said afterward. The Duke of Cambridge then went on to say, “Imagine my surprise; burnt my throat.”
