Our favorite part of any wedding? The gorgeous multitiered cake, which is why we’re so excited to announce that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have finally revealed the sugary details about their royal wedding confection.
Kensington Palace announced this morning that Claire Ptak, owner of Violet Bakery in East London, will create the dessert for the celebration on May 19 at St. George’s Hall, and it won’t be your typical vanilla-cake-and-white-icing deal. The couple has requested a lemon elderflower cake (ooh, fancy) with buttercream frosting and fresh flowers to “incorporate the bright flavors of spring,” and we’re betting it will be the most stunning blossom-covered creation the world has ever seen.
So our cake-tasting invite got lost in the mail, then? No worries, we’ll just be over here perfecting our lemon elderflower recipe in time for the royal festivities (that is, if we don’t get our hands on one of the 2,600 public invites).
