This just in: Cynthia Erivo and Joseph Gordon-Levitt are joining the cast of Disney’s live-action Pinocchio movie.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Erivo and Gordon-Levitt will reportedly play the Blue Fairy and Jiminy Cricket (respectively) in the highly anticipated remake. *Breaks into happy dance*

The duo will star alongside a star-studded cast list, which features Tom Hanks (who is playing Geppetto). Other voiceover actors include Benjamin Evan Ainsworth (Pinocchio), Keegan-Michael Key (Honest John) and Lorraine Bracco (Sofia the Seagull).

Pinocchio is being directed by Robert Zemeckis (Back to the Future, Forrest Gump). He’ll also serve as an executive producer alongside Andrew Miano (Admission) and Chris Weitz (American Pie).

We first learned about Disney’s reimagined version of Pinocchio back in 2018 when Hanks was first tied to the movie. Although very few details about the film have been released, we do know it will use an ideal combination of live-action and visual effects.

The original Pinocchio movie premiered back in 1940. The story is based on the Italian children’s book by Carlo Collodi, following the adventures of a mischievous marionette and his father, Geppetto. *Cue “I’ve Got Not Strings”*

Disney’s live-action Pinocchio is scheduled to begin production later this month in the U.K. We don’t expect the movie to premiere for quite some time, but when it does, it will be exclusively available for streaming on Disney+.
