This Is Not a Drill: Oprah Winfrey, Reese Witherspoon & Mindy Kaling Just Received the Barbie Treatment
Just when we thought we couldn’t get more excited about the upcoming film adaptation of Madeleine L’Engle’s novel, A Wrinkle in Time, Disney and Barbie teamed up and just dropped three new iconic dolls that’ll make you say, “Take my money.”
Director Ava DuVernay took to Twitter yesterday to obsess over Barbie’s newest release by posting a photo of three dolls inspired by the film’s main characters, Oprah Winfrey (Mrs. Which), Reese Witherspoon (Mrs. Whatsit) and Mindy Kaling (Mrs. Who).
When Disney makes Barbies of your movie?s characters and you just want to stare at them all day in disbelief because you loved Barbies as a girl but never had any like these. #WrinkleinTime pic.twitter.com/7PzQsiNoyG— Ava DuVernay (@ava) January 25, 2018
DuVernay captioned the post, “When Disney makes Barbies of your movie’s characters and you just want to stare at them all day in disbelief because you loved Barbies as a girl but never had any like these. #WrinkleinTime.”
Although they aren’t available for purchase just yet, Barbie’s website says the Mrs. W dolls were created “for the adult collector” and will retail at $50.
A Wrinkle in Time hits theaters on March 9. We’ll be there (acrylic Barbie display case and all).
