Sure, we’re not exactly thrilled about Game of Thrones coming to an end, but Nikolaj Coster-Waldau low-key confirmed it will all be worth it.

In a recent interview with the Huffington Post, Coster-Waldau discussed the eighth (and final) season of GoT and revealed the ending is “satisfying” yet “surprising.”

He said, “I wrote the writers when I finished reading and just said, ‘I don’t think you could’ve done a better job at finishing this story.’ To me, it was very satisfying but also very surprising and all the things that I was hoping for. It still made sense.”

The actor went on to warn fans about what to expect, adding, “I think if it hadn’t have been the last season, people would’ve just collapsed. We wouldn’t have made it. I mean, at one point the crew had 52 nights in one go in Northern Ireland. Just unheard of.”

We’ve never felt more ready for winter. Season eight of Game of Thrones is expected to premiere in 2019.
