By now, we’re all very familiar with the wild and wacky rule book of the royal family. Eat bananas with a fork, wear shoes that don’t fit, et cetera, et cetera. But did Meghan Markle just break the rules at last night’s British Fashion Awards?
The duchess made a surprise appearance at the event, looking chic in a black velvet gown by Givenchy. But, naturally, everyone pulled out their microscopic lenses to examine a minuscule beauty choice—dark nail polish.
According to royal nail polish protocol (or so we thought—more on that in a minute), Meghan, Kate and the gang are restricted to subtle, natural shades. Remember when—gasp—Meghan opted for a cream shade? Quelle horreur.
But guys, it turns out that rule isn’t true! Yep, royal correspondent Omid Scobie told Harper’s Bazaar, “There’s no actual protocol about dark nail polish. It’s simply about being appropriate.” In this case, Meghan’s deep navy nails make total sense…because fashion.
Consider this royal myth BUSTED. (Thank God. We love a dark nail.)
