We Have Our First Look at Leslie Grace from the Upcoming ‘Batgirl’ Movie

Gear up, DC fans. If you love the Batman universe, then this is going to be a good year.

While the highly-anticipated movie, The Batman—starring Robert Pattinson and Zoë Kravitz—is set for release on March 4, there is another highly-awaited film, Batgirl, which is set to be released on HBO Max at some point this year.

Leslie Grace, who recently starred as Nina Rosario in the film adaptation of In the Heights, will be filling the role of Batgirl, and she will be joined by other major names like J. K. Simmons, Brendan Fraser and Michael Keaton.

Although little has been revealed about the film so far, Grace just gave her Instagram followers the first peek at her transformation into the superhero. In the photo, Grace is seen standing in front of a stone column sporting a recreation of Batgirl's iconic suit. As she looks off camera, her yellow cape blows behind her.

In her caption, Grace used a quote from the Batgirl: Year One comic, saying, “‘I use their expectations against them. That will be their weakness. Not mine. Let them all underestimate me…And when their guard is down, and their pride is rising, let me kick their butts.’ - Batgirl, Year One #Batgirl.”

Users loved Grace's costume, leaving comments that called it “Amaziinggggg” and “ELITE.” One person said, “Born to tackle this role!!!!! SO FIERCE.”

Grace follows on the heels of actresses Alicia Silverstone, Yvonne Craig and Dina Meyer, who have all previously played live-action iterations of the character of Batgirl (AKA Barbara Gordon).

The Batgirl movie is being directed by Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah, while the screenplay was written by Christina Hodson. Principal photography began in November of last year.

This promo pic has already has us anxious for Batgirl's release. Hopefully it will be sooner rather than later.
