Reese Witherspoon Just Revealed Some *Major* Behind-the-Scenes Secrets During the ‘Legally Blonde’ Reunion

The cast of Legally Blonde just took us back to Harvard Law School for a special reunion—and we've now learned some interesting new details about the iconic film.

Done in partnership with World Central Kitchen, a non-profit organization devoted to providing meals in the wake of natural disasters, the reunion included quite a few highlights and behind-the-scenes secrets. For instance, did you know that the classic "bend and snap" was supposed to be a full musical sequence? Or that Elle's stylish first-day outfit had her "sweating buckets" in the outdoor heat? Yeah, neither did we.

Regarding her pink outfit, Reese Witherspoon said, "I remember it was burning hot outside and I was sweating buckets. Sophie de Rakoff [the film’s costume designer] was like ‘You are wearing this sweater. You are buttoning up the collar…it has to be this way.’ And I was like ‘OK!’"

In addition to Witherspoon, the special included Luke Wilson, Holland Taylor, Jennifer Coolidge, Selma Blair, Ali Larter, Jessica Cauffiel and Alanna Ubach.

Witherspoon first shared the news about the reunion special on Monday. She wrote, “Ohmigod, you guys!! It’s a Legally Blonde Reunion. We laughed, we cried and we may or may not have done the bend & snap for old times sake! For the first time in 20 years, join me and the #LegallyBlonde cast [Tuesday] at 3:15 PM PST on the @hellosunshine YouTube channel! PS: Don’t you want to see if Elle & Warner finally make up?”

This was the first official reunion from the original cast in almost two decades (although, we did get a mini-one between Witherspoon and Regina King back in June). And it likely won’t be the last time we see this gang all together, considering there’s currently a Legally Blonde 3  in the works. However, while we know Elle Witherspoon is on board, we’re not sure about the rest of the cast just yet.

We do know that Mindy Kaling is writing the script. During an episode of Good Morning America earlier this month, she discussed the highly anticipated sequel. “I was nervous because the movie is so iconic. But then I thought, ‘It’d be really fun to see that character in her 40s. What is Elle Woods dealing with as a 41-year-old woman?’” she said. “And it’s been really funny to write. And I’m working on it with my friend Dan [Goor], and I think it’s going to be a great movie for Reese and people are going to love to see her in this part.”

So, while we wait for the third installment, this mini virtual reunion is just what we needed to hold us over.
