It’s official: Kim Cattrall is set to star in the upcoming How I Met Your Mother spinoff.

Hulu just announced that the 65-year-old actress will have a major recurring role in the all-new series, titled How I Met Your Father. Cattrall will portray the future version of a familiar character: Sophie (played by Hilary Duff).

Similar to the original show, How I Met Your Father will follow Sophie as she explains to her son how she met his dad. But this time, the story will take place in 2021 and will document Sophie as she explores dating apps, social media and other modern-day obstacles.

Of course, Sophie won’t be alone. The character will rely on her close-knit group of friends—Jesse (Chris Lowell), Valentina (Francia Raisa), Charlie (Tom Ainsley), Ellen (Tien Tran) and Sid (Suraj Sharma)—who are trying to navigate adulthood.

Several familiar faces are returning to helm How I Met Your Father. This includes series writers Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger, who will also serve as a executive producers alongside HIMYM creators Carter Bays and Craig Thomas.

The news might surprise some fans, especially since Cattrall refused to take part in the upcoming Sex and the City reboot, titled And Just Like That… Perhaps the actress already had other roles (or spinoffs) in mind.
