EXCLUSIVE: Karamo Brown Reveals Which 2 of His ‘Queer Eye’ Co-stars He Goes to for Advice

Queer Eye star Karamo Brown is trained in psychotherapy, social work and empathetic listening, but even the Fab Five’s resident culture and emotion expert needs advice every now and again.

The 38-year-old bomber jacket designer sat down with PureWow to talk all things Queer Eye and his 2020 wedding in celebration of his upcoming commencement address at Chaffey College. Naturally, we asked the EXTRA Refreshers gum spokesperson about how his fellow Fab Five members’ expertise play out behind the scenes and who he turns to when he needs some support of his own.

Although Brown says he loves all of his fellow Queer Eye stars, there are two he looks to most frequently when he needs to talk it out: Antoni Porowski and Bobby Berk.

“Antoni and I have more emotional conversations and we really connect because he’s sensitive. A lot of people don’t think I’m sensitive, but I am,” Brown shared.

But when he’s in need of more pragmatic approach, Brown looks to none other than the 36-year-old Berk. “Bobby offers more practical advice. So, if I’m having a hard day, I would probably call Antoni. And if I need more, like, ‘This is step one, two and three,’ advice I’d probably call Bobby.”

He added that grooming expert Jonathan Van Ness and fashion authority Tan France are always there for guidance and encouragement as well, but if anyone knows how to highlight people’s strengths, it’s Brown.

Now we see why Brown says his Queer Eye co-stars refer to himself and Berk as the “mom and dad” of the group.
