Behold: Your first look at Joaquin Phoenix in the brand-new Joker movie.

Yesterday, director Todd Phillips posted on Instagram and gave us a glimpse of the untitled origin film. He shared a photo of Phoenix as the Joker, and we can’t help but wonder if the character’s iconic clown makeup is gone…for good.

In the pic, Phoenix is sporting a creepy as hell haircut, green jacket and button-down shirt. Phillips captioned the post, “Arthur.”

The stand-alone film will follow the Joker as he transforms from a stand-up comedian to Batman’s most notorious enemy. The movie also stars Robert De Niro (Dirty Grandpa), Frances Conroy (American Horror Story), Marc Maron (GLOW) and Zazie Beetz (Deadpool 2).

The untitled Joker film is expected to premiere sometime in October 2019, and we. Can’t. Wait.
