Issa Rae Prepares for an Emotional Goodbye in New Trailer for the Final Season of ‘Insecure’

Calling all Insecure fans!

We are devastated that the upcoming fifth season of the HBO comedy series will be its last. But we still have reason to celebrate, as the network finally released the official trailer.

The clip was shared on the series' official Instagram account, which read: “Glowin’ up and growin’ up. The final season of #InsecureHBO premieres October 24th on @hbomax.”

Check out the trailer below (and take a peek at star Issa Rae playing her teenage self).

In the video, Rae is talking to herself in the mirror (which is a notable motif throughout the series)—but this time, she's talking to “throwback Issa.” The teenage version of Rae's character is seen rocking braces and a baseball tee with the Kool-Aid man printed on the front and excitedly talking to her grown-up self about all the changes she's made.

This moment is followed by a variety of clips teasing the final season, where we see the return of other fan-favorite characters, like Molly (Yvonne Orji), Lawrence (Jay Ellis), Kelli (Natasha Rothwell), Tiffany (Amanda Seales) and Nathan (Kendrick Sampson).

“I just want to fast forward to the part of my life when everything's OK,” Rae says in the clip. From what we can tell, it looks like this season is going to be packed with lots of drama and emotion, but hopefully this will result in some closure for the characters, too. HBO's official writeup reads, “The series continues to follow our favorite characters as they evaluate their relationships, both new and old, in an effort to figure out who and what comes with them in this next phase of their lives.”

The final season will consist of ten episodes that will air on Sundays at 10 p.m. ET on HBO beginning October 24.

We're not ready to say goodbye, but we can't wait to watch.
