New year, new dynamic duo!
This morning, Hoda Kotb made her official debut as the new coanchor of NBC’s Today. The TV personality joins Savannah Guthrie for the first two hours of the news program and returns during the fourth hour to cohost alongside Kathie Lee Gifford.
Although Kotb is—understandably—excited to take on the new role, she isn’t the only one who is thrilled about this new endeavor. She said, “I am pinching myself. I think we should send some medics to Alexandria, Virginia, where my mom has likely fainted after hearing the open of that show!”
The announcement comes less than two months after NBC fired longtime anchor Matt Lauer following a series of sexual misconduct allegations. Fans were quick to express their concerns over finding a worthy replacement, but we have a feeling Kotb and Guthrie are the pairing we didn’t know we needed.
Today airs weekdays at 7 a.m. on NBC. You know where to find us.
