Yesterday, Bette Midler posted a behind-the-scenes photo on her personal Instagram account, which was taken during rehearsals for the virtual show. The pic features the Sanderson sisters—Midler (Winifred), Sarah Jessica Parker (Sarah) and Kathy Najimy (Mary)—in full costume, almost as if nothing has changed.
She captioned the post, “Your 3 fav witches—@sarahjessicaparker @kathynajimy & ME—are returning for 1 night only on 10/30 at 8p ET! ‘In Search of the Sanderson Sisters’ is the best thing to happen to #Halloween since Hocus Pocus + Reeses Pieces. The Sanderson Sisters have been a Halloween staple ever since Hocus Pocus premiered 27 (!) years ago. Tickets to the reunion are $10 each, with proceeds benefitting Midler’s charity, New York Restoration Project (NYRP). The event was arranged after the actress decided to cancel her annual costume gala due to the coronavirus pandemic.
“Every year, the New York social calendar in October culminates with Midler’s annual ‘Hulaween’ costume gala, a star-studded fundraiser to benefit NYRP,” a statement said. “This year, due to COVID-19, the event will go virtual, welcoming fans of all ages around the world to attend.”
