Hairy, is that you? OK...puns aside, we’re huge HP fans, and we don’t care who knows it. (As in, we were just discussing which Hogwarts houses all of our coworkers would be in before writing this.)
Now, we may not be big enough fans to alter our appearance for it (we’re more into expressing our fandom with a new accessory or switching up our go-to Starbucks order), but one woman went the extra quidditch pitch for HP.
Crystal Casey, a Virginia Beach–based hairstylist, posted an Instagram of the magical dye job last week, which consists of horizontal striations of warm reds, coppers, oranges and violets mixed with a few strands of cool blue and teal underneath. She said was inspired by the Gryffindor house, “with my own twist of course,” Casey told Allure. She used basic balayage and color-melting techniques after bleaching horizontal blocks onto the hair and then painted the demi- and semipermanent colors vertically to create more depth. And the Potter fans have spoken: The video of the whole process has garnered nearly 25,000 views in three days.
That’s 100 points for Gryffindor. Accio next available appointment.
