Anyone else spend the past week binge-watching the new series Stay Here on Netflix? The home renovation show chronicles unique rental properties getting flipped, redecorated and re-marketed by two industry experts. And while yes, the transformations are addictive and satisfying, we're equally obsessed with the show's fabulous female designer and host. If you haven't already: Meet Genevieve Gorder.
Who is she?
Gorder has been a household name in the design world for decades. She was a part of the original Trading Spaces cast, then went on to star in several spinoff HGTV shows, including Dear Genevieve and Design Star. She's also designed decor collaborations with a handful of our favorite companies (see: Land of Nod; Allswell Home).
Why do we love her?
For starters, she has such a genuine, kind way about her; which comes across in every interaction she has with clients and colleagues. She seems both patient and quick-witted, and she also happens to have amazing personal style. And of course, she's talented as hell. Her interior design concepts are clean, warm, slightly bohemian and totally beautiful. (OK fine, yes, we have a big fat crush on her).
We say, Gorder's recent ascension back to the limelight couldn't have come at a more opportune time. With Fixer Upper off the air, and Joanna Gaines building her ever-expanding empire, we needed a design shero to inspire our decorating efforts (and help us virtually escape the messy hovel that is our home). If you haven't watched Stay Here yet, do it. (The first episode is a houseboat flip!)
