Fact: Frances McDormand marches to the beat of her own drum. So when the Oscar-winning actress attended last night’s 2018 Met Gala, she naturally stood out from fashion’s elite.
The Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri star channeled the silk fern in our grandma’s living room wearing a Valentino ensemble hot off the spring 2018 couture runway. (It looks more Hunger Games Earth Day collection than Valentino in our humble opinion, but hey.)

McDormand did her best Sasha Fierce impersonation and hoofed it down the red carpet in her eye-catching ensemble.

But once she got into the party, she really brought the drama. McDormand danced amongst the Met’s priceless works of art without a care in the world.

The theme of this year’s gala was Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination, but even with years of catechism under our belts, we can’t quite place the symbolism McDormand was going for.
Even so, there’s no denying she did the damn thing with aplomb, and we only wish we were that daring. Maybe now we’ll finally try culottes.
