It’s officially the summer of love. Like Pete and Ariana and Priyanka and Nick before them, Ellie Goulding and art dealer Caspar Jopling are officially engaged.
But as trendy as the 2018 engagement season has been, when it came to announcing the couple’s big news, there was nary an Instagram post in sight. Instead, the couple of 18 months opted for a formal announcement in the British Times newspaper, because formality, darling, is not dead.
“The engagement is announced between Caspar, son of The Hon Nicholas Jopling of Yorkshire and Mrs Jayne Warde-Aldam of Yorkshire, and Elena, daughter of Mr Arthur Goulding of Herefordshire and Mrs Tracey Sumner of West Midlands,” the announcement read in today’s paper. (PS: Elena is Goulding’s full name.)
It’s not clear how the notoriously private couple met, but all signs point to a royal intro. Jopling attended the prestigious Eton College in Berkshire, England, with Prince Harry and Prince William, and Goulding performed at William and Kate Middleton’s wedding in 2011. Both Goulding and Jopling also count Princess Eugenie and her fiance, Jack Brooksbank, as friends.
Now we wait to see the sparkler…
