Major congratulations are in order for Ed Sheeran and his wife Cherry Seaborn. The married couple is officially a family of three after recently welcoming their first child together.
On Tuesday, the pair announced the birth of their baby girl on Instagram. And while they didn’t reveal a first photo, we were lucky enough to get a name.
“Ello! A quick message from me as I have some personal news that I wanted to share with you... Last week, with the help of an amazing delivery team, Cherry gave birth to our beautiful and healthy daughter—Lyra Antarctica Seaborn Sheeran," the 29-year-old singer captioned a sweet photo of a pair of baby socks on top of a rainbow blanket. “We are completely in love with her. Both mum and baby are doing amazing and we are on cloud nine over here. We hope that you can respect our privacy at this time. Lots of love and I'll see you when it's time to come back, Ed x.”
The new parents secretly tied the knot back in December 2019. Although they didn’t formally announce the news, Sheeran did reference his “wife” in his new song with Eminem and 50 Cent, “Remember the Name,” though few picked up on the lyric. He confirmed that he was a married man during an interview with Charlamagne tha God the following July.
“I knew that we’d be married by the point that the song came out,” he said in the interview referencing the song. “[I thought] Someone’s gonna hear that and be like, ‘Oh, they’re married!’ I didn’t know how that would be construed, but obviously it’s already come out.”
And while we’re still waiting on those wedding pictures, now we’re also in dire need of baby pics as well.
