There’s a brand-new face in Monterey, and he’s getting pretty close to Jane (Shailene Woodley).

HBO just announced that Douglas Smith (Big Love, Vinyl) has officially joined the cast of Big Little Lies for season two as a new character named Corey Brockfield. Corey is described as a surfer with a passion for marine biology who starts working with Jane. *Crosses fingers for an office romance*

Smith is in very good newcomer company this season. Meryl Streep also joined the season two cast in January.

In addition to Smith and Queen Streep, Nicole Kidman (Celeste), Reese Witherspoon (Madeline), Zoë Kravitz (Bonnie), Laura Dern (Renata), Adam Scott (Ed) and several other original key players are set to reprise their roles in season two.

According to HBO, the new season will further explore the impact of lies, the power of friendships and the difficulties of marriage and parenting.

Big Little Lies season two is slated to premiere in early 2019 and kicked off filming last week.
