Unless you’ve been living under Pride Rock, you’ve seen Disney’s new The Lion King trailer, which debuted on Thursday.
You, plus about 225 million others, that is. The video broke the record for most-watched Disney trailer in history in its first 24 hours. It comes in second place behind Avengers: Infinity War for most trailer views by any studio ever (238 million views), according to Deadline.
The new “live-action” (read: heavy CGI) film will be directed by Jon Favreau and star Donald Glover as Simba, Beyoncé as Nala, James Earl Jones as Mufasa, John Oliver as Zazu, Seth Rogen as Pumbaa, Billy Eichner as Timon, Chiwetel Ejiofor as Scar and more. The movie is due out on July 19, 2019.
Hakuna matata: It means we’ll just be avoiding our jam-packed inboxes and rewatching the preview instead.
