If You’ve Ever Cried After Accidentally Spilling Pumped Breast Milk, You Need to Watch the Trailer for ‘Tully’
In the wake of the #MeToo movement, it’s somehow still hard to find examples of women winning in Hollywood. (Claire Foy makes less than Matt Smith excuse me?!) That’s why we were so excited to see the trailer for Charlize Theron’s new movie, Tully.
The film comes courtesy of Academy Award—winning writer Diablo Cody (Juno), and it’s basically the type of movie we’ve been begging for for years: a woman-forward dramedy about the realities of motherhood.
Theron plays Marlo, a mother of three who’s barely hanging on. (Bring on the pumping, car-seat rocking and dropped iPhones on baby’s head.) When Marlo’s brother (Mark Duplass) gifts her a night nurse named Tully (Mackenzie Davis), she’s reticent about the arrangement but ultimately learns to open up and accept the help. And, gah, the whole thing looks so damn relatable.
Oscar-nominated director Jason Reitman directs the film, which will hit theaters on May 4.
