Sure, work perks like free snacks and coffee that doesn’t taste like arsenic are all the rage stateside. But across the pond at Buckingham Palace, the staff gets a little more than gratis granola bars.
According to historian Adrian Tinniswood’s new book Behind the Throne: A Domestic History of the British Royal Household, the Buckingham Palace staff enjoy spoils fit for, well, a queen.
Tinniswood wrote, “Buckingham Palace boasts a staff gym, swimming pool, squash court, and tennis court, with discounted membership to fitness facilities elsewhere in the country.”
Not a fan of exercise? No worries. Buckingham Palace caters to its otherwise-inclined employees with “a choir, a book club, and twenty-four-hour confidential counseling service for staff.”
BRB. We’re off to search the palace job listings page.
