6 Things to Look Forward to Now That Prince Louis Is Here and the Royal Wedding Is Over
To be honest, we don’t think we remember a time when we weren’t taking bets on the name of Kate Middleton and Prince William’s third child or eagerly dissecting every single thing Meghan Markle has ever said about weddings in preparation for her big day. But now that Prince Louis has graced us all with his arrival and Meghan and Harry have exchanged vows, what even is there to be excited about? We’re glad you asked! Here are six royal events to look forward to from now through the end of the year.
As soon as one Middleton baby was born, another was announced. Just after little Louis’s birth, it was reported that K-Middy’s younger sister is pregnant with her first child, which thus quelled our fears of having to find a new pregnancy-style icon to fill the next nine months. Pippa and her husband, James Matthews, have yet to reveal the due date, gender or perspective names so stay tuned for all the guessing-game fun. And although she isn't royal herself, Pippa certainly qualifies as royal-adjacent and you can bet that more than a few members of the royal family will be thrilled to have another playmate for George, Charlotte and Louis around.
Princess Eugenie’s Royal Wedding
Prefer wedding fever over baby fever? Then it’s time to turn your attention to Prince William and Prince Harry’s cousin (aka Fergie’s daughter) Princess Eugenie. She and her fiancé, Jack Brooksbank, will be married on October 12, 2018, which means we still have five full months of wedding-detail announcements to look forward to. Will Prince George and his siblings be involved? Who will design her dress? Only time will tell.
PRINCE CHARLES TURNS 70
The future King of England turns 70 on November 14, but the celebrations have already begun. In fact, there are multiple events happening over the next six months in honor of Charles. And while we’re of course excited to wish him a very happy birthday, we’re more excited to see what fashion choices Meghan Markle will make for each of the celebratory events.
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s Honeymoon
Speaking of Meghan, she and Harry are about to set out for their honeymoon adventure. Some reports say the happy couple will be traveling to Africa, possibly to relive their romantic engagement, while others are saying they’ll be heading to Canada, Markle’s home country while she filmed Suits. Either way, we can’t wait to see what sort of exciting things the adventurous couple has planned.
Prince Louis’s Christening
If you’re itching for another look at the newest addition to the royal family, you’ll have to wait a bit. Louis’s christening will likely take place in late June or early July, with the young prince spending the interim at home with mom Kate.
Queen Elizabeth’s 92nd Birthday
But wait, didn’t the queen turn 92 back in April? Yes, but just like Charles (and unlike the rest of us plebeians), she isn’t limited to just one birthday celebration per year. Her second birthday, called the Trooping of the Colour, will take place on June 9 and is celebrated with a huge parade through London, ending with an airshow over Buckingham Palace. Oh, and cake, of course.
