The Breakfast Club Just Reunited (Kinda)

Break out your Molly Ringwald circa 1985 finest because The Breakfast Club is back. Well, sorta.

Last night at the Toronto International Film Festival, a star-studded cast including Christina Hendricks (Good Girls), Aaron Paul (Breaking Bad), Jesse Eisenberg (Now You See Me), Richard E. Grant (Logan), Robert Wuhl (Blue Bloods), Bel Powley (Diary of a Teenage Girl) and Steve Zissis (I’m Sorry) got the detention gang back together in a live reading of the movie.

Although no one from the original cast was involved, sadly, the live reading directed by Jason Reitman (Juno) gave fans all the nostalgia. Interestingly enough, the cast read from the John Hughes film’s original script, which wasn’t the shooting script.

Still, Hendricks’s portrayal of Claire (Molly Ringwald’s character) acting out the lipstick trick was just as good. Eisenberg played John Bender (Judd Nelson’s character), Paul played Andy (Emilio Estevez’s character), Powley played Allison (Ally Sheedy’s character), Zissis played Brian “The Brain” (Anthony Michael Hall’s character), Grant played Mr. Vernon (Paul Gleason’s character) and Wuhl played Carl the Janitor (John Kapelos’s character).

Sure, things change, but a walk down memory lane is always appreciated.
