There’s a theory floating around the Seven Kingdoms internet that Bran Stark (Isaac Hempstead Wright) is actually the Night King.
But isn’t he the Three-Eyed Raven, you ask? Well, according to the theory, Bran uses his raven time-travel powers to go back to the moment when the White Walker leader was created by the Children of the Forest (who made him to protect themselves). Bran tries to intervene but instead gets trapped inside the Night King’s body. Hence, Bran = Night King.
And now, the actor may have just confirmed the theory on Twitter.
In a short clip, Hempstead Wright looks straight into camera before transforming into the zombie-lord himself. “The Night King is coming for us,” he says. OMG, Bran is the Night King!
Or is he? Hempstead Wright then goes on to plug the GoT social-media filter and says, “Check out the Facebook filter and give us your best Night King pout.”
OK, so this clip may not totally confirm that Bran is the Night King, but there’s plenty of other evidence to say that he is. Warning: major spoilers ahead.
In one of the last scenes of the Season 7 finale, we see the Army of the Dead marching through the Wall and toward the North. While the rest of us were mourning the loss of Tormund Giantsbane (he and Brienne of Tarth need to make “great big monster” babies), one eagle-eyed fan shared a very clever observation on Reddit and it’s a total game changer.
The army of White Walkers form a very peculiar formation as they trudge through the Wall—namely, a direwolf head that happens to be the House Stark sigil. Mind. Blown.
And in further convincing evidence—Bran and the Night King pretty much dress exactly the same. Guess we’ll have to wait until 2019 to find out.
