We won't get another glimpse at the ladies of Monterey and their drama-filled lives in the second season of Golden Globes-winning Big Little Lies until 2019, HBO confirmed Thursday.
HBO president Casey Bloys told The Hollywood Reporter: "They start shooting in the spring. It's not going to air in 2018." Booooo.
The show, which is based on the novel by Liane Moriarty, was ordered for the network as a limited series. However, it garnered rave reviews and a call for another season even after the series finale neatly wrapped up the book's plot. To our surprise and overwhelming approval, HBO acceded.
Since then, we've learned of new characters coming in the sophomore season (Bonnie's parents and Perry's mom, for instance), seen the actors win numerous awards for the show, and were even blessed with a brand-new Nicole Kidman Instagram account. So, 2018: Keep on keepin' on.
And don't mind us 'til next year: We'll just be driving through fog-covered bridges while listening wistfully to the show's playlist until then.
