Beyoncé’s New Visual Album ‘Black Is King’ Is Coming to Disney+ and People Can’t Deal

If you're not already on board the Disney+ train, this might convince you to take the plunge: Beyoncé's new visual album, “Black is King,” will premiere globally on the streaming service on July 31, 2020.

Arriving on the heels of the one-year anniversary of the release of Disney’s global phenomenon The Lion King, the visual album reimagines the lessons of the classic film "for today’s young kings and queens in search of their own crowns."

In a press release, Disney+ said that, based on the music of “The Lion King: The Gift,” and starring the album's featured artists and some special guests, “'Black Is King'” is a celebratory memoir for the world on the Black experience. Videos for 'My Power,' 'Mood 4 Eva' and 'Brown Skin Girl' are extravagances of elegance and soul. The film is a story for the ages that informs and rebuilds the present. A reunion of cultures and shared generational beliefs. A story of how the people left most broken have an extraordinary gift and a purposeful future."

This likely won't be the last time Queen Bey teams up with Disney. The star is reportedly in talks with Disney to sign a $100 million deal that encompasses three major projects, according to The Sun. The majority of the details are being kept under wraps, but we do know one of the potential movies is Black Panther 2. “Beyoncé has become a major player for Disney and is the perfect fit for their brand,” a source told the outlet.

Unfortunately, we don’t know much about the Black Panther sequel. While Ryan Coogler is returning to direct and write the script, Marvel hasn’t officially confirmed any cast members. In addition to Black Panther 2, Beyoncé will likely do more voiceover work. After the success of Meghan Markle’s Elephant, we wouldn’t be surprised if part of the deal included voicing a Disney+ documentary.

It's Beyoncé's world...we're all just lucky to be living in it.
