Yes, we love our annual Oscars telecast for its megastars in all their gold and glitz. But this year, a new trend reared its pallid head in the super-fancy-outfits department. Call it time for less overkill and more elegance. Paler colors (including a goodly amount of bridal white) and more neutral tones wowed us. Here are our favorites.

In Phantom Thread, Manville plays a sophisticated English woman at an amazing design house. So how perfect is it that she rocked a semi-sheer asymmetrical gown in the pale-blue equivalent of blush pink?

Simmer down, Chalametniacs. Yes, the crush-worthy 22-year-old wore an all-white tuxedo to the Oscars, and traditional black tie may never be the same.
