Ben Affleck & Matt Damon Will Duel It Out in New Revenge Movie—and We Have the Deets

Ben Affleck and Matt Damon are (re)teaming up for an all-new Ridley Scott (Alien: Covenant) project.

According to Deadline, the pair are set to star in an upcoming Scott-directed movie, The Last Duel. The script, which is almost finished, is being written by Damon, Affleck and Nicole Holofcener (The Land of Steady Habits).

Although not much is known about the film, we do know it will be based on the 2004 novel by Eric Jager, The Last Duel: A True Story of Trial by Combat in Medieval France.

The revenge story follows two best-friends-turned-enemies: Jean de Carrouges and Jacques Le Gris. It all starts when de Carrouges goes to war and returns only to accuse Le Gris of raping his wife. Faced with a he-said, she-said situation, they battle it out in a life-or-death duel.

This is the first time since Good Will Hunting that Damon and Affleck are collaborating on a script together. The duo will also serve as executive producers alongside Scott and Kevin Walsh (Manchester by the Sea).

All we have to say is…it’s about damn time.
