Kelly Ripa Is Already a Fan of the ‘Trikini’ (A Bikini with a Matching Face Mask)

Bikinis are so last year. This summer is all about the trikini...wait, what?

Italian company Elexia Beachwear recently went viral for its matching bikini and face mask sets, and despite how kooky the idea sounds, when you think about it, it's also kind of genius. (Remember, the CDC now recommends that Americans wear a cloth face-covering in public places where social distancing can be hard to practice.)

The company's owner, Tiziana Scaramuzzo, told ABC News that she came up with the idea during quarantine, and that she was surprised by how quickly the concept went viral. "The idea was born in the house during quarantine to take photos with my children," she said. "We didn't think it would be this successful."

Even Kelly Ripa is a fan. People reports that during Monday's at-home episode of Live with Kelly and Ryan, Ripa and her husband Mark Consuelos—who was filling in for Ryan Seacrest—talked about the trikini. They both agreed that it's a great idea, with Ripa adding, "That way we maybe can feel less anxious about going to the beach."

Unfortunately, Elexia's designs are currently only for sale in Italy and not able to be shipped internationally. Luckily, a Los Angeles-based swim brand, Dippin' Daisy, is also making face masks out of its swimsuit material, which you can buy to match your bikinis and one pieces.
