Serena Williams Says This Is the True Meaning of Her Daughter, Alexis Olympia’s, Name
It’s obvious Serena Williams and her fiancé, Alexis Ohanian, named their baby girl Alexis Olympia Ohanian Jr. after her proud papa. But where they got her middle name has remained a mystery—until now.
Nearly a month after giving birth, Williams revealed on Twitter that her daughter’s name was inspired by her mama’s momentous Australian Open win while 20 weeks pregnant. The tennis star wrote, “Fun fact my daughters initials are AO as in the Aussie open she won with me.”

Not only are little Alexis’s initials a tribute to the mommy-daughter Australian Open victory, but the name “Olympia” is also derived from Mount Olympus, the birthplace of the Olympic Games.
