‘Willy Wonka’ Child Star Paris Themmen Tries to Go on ‘Jeopardy’ Undercover (and It Doesn’t Work)
Mike Teevee from Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory finally made it to the small screen.
Paris Themmen, the former child actor who plays the cowboy-outfitted brat in the classic 1971 film, was a contestant on Tuesday night’s episode of Jeopardy. When host Alex Trebek asked contestants to share a little bit about themselves, Themmen failed to mention that he’s a fixture of our childhood. He instead introduced himself as an “entrepreneur” and “avid backpacker” who has visited 61 countries.
Internet sleuths immediately recognized Themmen and took to Twitter to express excitement over the fulfillment of his Willy Wonka character’s goal of being on TV. Take, for example, this child at heart.
I was making dinner in the kitchen, listening to Jeopardy when Alex Trebek started introducing contestants at the break. He said @ParisThemmen and I ran out saying MIKE TEEVEE !!! My wife thought I was nuts. Great job Paris!? Wildbill (@wildbill77) March 13, 2018
Or this woman, who never forgets a face.
The former child star came in second place on the show and went home with $6,800.
Here’s hoping he spends it all on chocolate and cowboy attire. It’s what Mike would’ve wanted.
