So long, days of Ultra Violet—a new year is upon us and with it comes a new declaration from the color experts at Pantone.

Meet: Living Coral, Pantone's color of 2019—a vibrant pinky-orange shade that pays homage to our oceans' colorful reefs and creatures. The reason being? The institute felt the time was nigh to draw attention the dangers of climate change, while simultaneously sending a hopeful message:

"Pantone 16-1546 Living Coral embraces us with warmth and nourishment to provide comfort and buoyancy in our continually shifting environment," the company stated on Wednesday. "In reaction to the onslaught of digital technology and social media increasingly embedding into daily life, we are seeking authentic and immersive experiences that enable connection and intimacy...Symbolizing our innate need for optimism and joyful pursuits, Pantone 16-1546 Living Coral embodies our desire for playful expression."

We love the message behind this year's bold hue—but the jury's out on whether we'll be peppering our bed, bath and beyond with it.
