America is technically a democracy, but we can all agree that Oprah Winfrey and Meghan Markle’s mom, Doria Ragland, are royals in their own right. So the fact that they’re new besties isn’t entirely shocking.

But it wasn’t their time in the public eye (or a potential working relationship) that solidified their bond. In fact, as Oprah revealed yesterday, it was yoga and…kumquats.

The royal wedding attendee finally broke her silence about the quality time she spent with Ragland pre-nuptials, saying that the two enjoyed a blissful (we assume) day of yoga followed by lunch at her cushy Montecito, California, estate.

“She’s great at yoga, so I said, ‘Bring your yoga mat and your sneaks in case we just want to do yoga on the lawn,” the media maven told Entertainment Tonight

The A Wrinkle in Time star went on to say that they also bonded over a shared love of mini-citrus fruits, recalling, “She said, ‘I love kumquats,’ and I said, ‘I have a kumquat tree! You want some kumquats?’”

Their hangout sesh ended with Oprah, in true Queen O form, gifting Ragland with a basket of kumquats.

So there you have it: Citrus isn’t just great for warding off scurvy, it’s also a great way to make friends. If only we had a garden.
