Mindy Kaling Is Creating a New Hulu Show Based on One of Our Favorite Movies

As sad as we are about the quickly approaching series finale of The Mindy Project (the last episode airs later this month), we have a new reason to be psyched. Mindy Kaling has a new Hulu series in the works, and it’s inspired by one of our favorite rom-coms.

Kaling, along with fellow Mindy Project writer Matt Warburton, will write and executive produce an hourlong anthology series based on the 1994 film Four Weddings and a Funeral, Deadline reports.

Details are scant, but apparently, like the movie, the series will follow a group of friends as their lives intersect through the five events (the weddings and funeral), with each season following a different story arc.

The Mindy Project’s sixth and final season is currently streaming on Hulu, and its final episode will drop on November 14.

We guess it's true what they say: When one door closes series ends, another one opens gets picked up by the same streaming platform.
