Is There Truth to the Kate Middleton ‘Pregnancy Hair' Theory Circulating on the Web? We Investigate
It’s time to put on your detective hats, because we’ve got a Kate Middleton mystery to set straight. Here's the deal:
Two weeks ago, Kate Proctor, a reporter for the U.K.’s Evening Standard, took to Twitter to share her opinion on the seemingly coincidental correlation between the duchess’s hairstyles and her baby bumps. She wrote, “Pattern is Duchess of Cambridge changes her hairstyle, people concentrate on her head, then announces pregnancy. My gfs called this wks ago!”
As it turns out, Middleton has a history of changing hairstyles right before making her pregnancy announcements. Is she trying to distract us? Is it truly coincidental? Either way, we’re in full support of this mind-blowing theory because the proof is in the pictures. Join us as we investigate.
Baby No. 1
During the royal tour of Malaysia in September 2012, Middleton’s chestnut-brown curls were perfectly intact.
In November 2012, the Duchess officially commenced her hair-changing escapade when she debuted a fabulous set of bangs during her first official visit to Cambridge. The switch-up diverted conversations until Middleton announced her first pregnancy in December.
Baby No. 2
In July 2014, prior to her second pregnancy announcement, Middleton’s hair was business as usual.
But royal aficionados were quick to point out the very minor change in Middleton’s hair when she visited the Tower of London in August that same year. While this change was the most subtle of the three we note, K-Middy sported roots (gasp!) at the affair and—whaddaya know—announced her pregnancy with Princess Charlotte one month later.
Baby No. 3
In July of this year, the duchess visited the Victoria and Albert Museum in London and rocked her usual mid-length hairstyle.
A few weeks later, Middleton attended the Wimbledon tennis championships and debuted a fresh ’do cut just below her shoulders and—drum roll, please—the palace announced baby number three about a month later.
Well played, Kate. Well played.
