When it comes to fashion, Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle’s personal styles couldn’t be more different. So when the Duchess of Cambridge took a sartorial cue from her pregnant sister-in-law, we were frankly surprised.

Middleton, 36, stepped out for the Royal British Legion Festival of Remembrance at London’s Royal Albert Hall this past weekend wearing a sophisticated Roland Mouret LBD. The brand is a personal favorite of the 37-year-old Duchess of Sussex, who’s also a personal friend of the designer.

Markle most notably wore a $2,165 Roland Mouret shift dress (seen above) the day before her wedding to Prince Harry.

Middleton paired her now-sold out asymmetrical Roland Mouret number (here’s a similar $1,995 option) with a Jimmy Choo black box clutch ($1,450) and simple black suede Gianvito Rossi “Gianvito 105” pumps ($675).

K-Middy doesn’t often wear black, but when she does, she really brings it.
