Jessica Simpson is preparing for her 40th birthday in the best way possible—by posting a bikini selfie.
Over the weekend, the 39-year-old shared a photo of herself (and her toned silhouette) rocking a cow-print two-piece from her Jessica Simpson collection. She topped off her cowgirl look with an embellished black hat and a lace cover-up. “YEE-HAW to my final days in my 30’s” the mother of three captioned the post. The “With You” singer will officially turn 40 on Friday, July 10.
The (literally) cheeky post coincides with the release of her eponymous brand’s collection of new summer swimwear. The clothing line also shared a picture of Simpson donning the new suit (called the Rodeo). “Happy Birthday to our fellow Cancers!” the caption read. “New summer swim now on jessicasimpson.com.”
Both photos quickly gained a lot of attention online. One fan commented, “You look better than ever!” while another wrote, “Here's to 40 & fabulous.”
The Dukes of Hazzard actress has been vocal about her struggles with body image throughout her Hollywood career. In her new memoir (released in February of this year), she opened up about the “pressures” she felt to be thin from a very young age and how it lead her to turn to a strict diet and diet pills for weight loss.
These days, Simpson is more accepting of her body. “I knew I needed to separate what really mattered to me and what mattered to my ego,” she wrote in her book. “Nobody’s words—compliments or critiques—should define the value of our souls.”
