The ‘Game of Thrones’ Season 8 Budget Is Big Enough to Make the Iron Bank Default

Attention, GoT fans: The series may be coming to an end with season eight (set to be released summer 2019), but considering its ginormous budget, it looks like we’re in for an un-freaking-believable final season.

According to Variety, the final season of the hit HBO show will cost a whopping $15 million per episode. Yep, you read that right.

The eighth season will be six episodes in length, and rumor has it that each episode might be feature-length. (Feel free to join us in praying to the gods old and new that the rumors are indeed true.)

Considering that producers may also be filming multiple endings to prevent leaks, it’s no wonder the budget is so big. But $15 million per episode is really big. In fact, if the budget estimates are correct, then GoT will claim the title for the biggest per-episode budget in TV-show history.

Let’s hope all that money translates into a killer (as in, kill Queen Cersei) season.
