It's royal wedding eve, you guys, and if you're anything like us, the anticipation surrounding Princess Eugenie's nuptials at Windsor Castle on October 12 (aka tomorrow) is tough to bear. That's why we were thrilled to see that royal photographer and author of Modern Monarchy (out October 16) Chris Jackson shared a couple behind-the-scenes pics of the decadent royal wedding cake on Instagram (see the slideshow above) ahead of the big day.
In an exclusive chat with Jackson, he revealed to PureWow that he photographed the cake being made yesterday morning in the kitchen at Buckingham Palace. “It's a red velvet cake and it's got kind of an autumnal theme, which is actually quite appropriate with how London looks and feels right now.”
On Instagram, he shared more background about Sophie Cabot, the talented baker behind the cake, and called attention to the detail on her amazing sugar work. He added: “Sadly as it was a little early in the process there wasn't anything to sample yet!”
Maybe tomorrow, Chris. But, based on the pics, it's clear that Princess Eugenie's Pinterest cake research paid off.
